What is Dynamic Logical Partition Command Line Tool for Integrated Virtualization Manager?
Dynamic Logical PARtition Command Line Tool for Integrated Virtualization Manager is a toolkit that enhances the usability of the Dynamic Logical PARtition (DLPAR) feature of systems managed by Integrated Virtualization Manager (IVM).
The DLPAR feature allows processor, memory, and I/O resources of LPAR to be monitored and managed dynamically, without any LPAR instance to be rebooted.
The toolkit consists of the following functions:
- Displays basic system information of IVM
- Displays IVM LPAR's configuration
- Displays I/O Slot status information
- Changes current configuration of IVM LPARs
- Changes I/O Slot configuration
- Backs up configuration of LPARs
- Restores configration of LPARs
- Powers on and powers off LPARs
- Exchanges SSH authorization keys between local and IVM system
The toolkit offers several advantages:
- Performance improvement in time assumption to complete the same task as compared to IVM navigator based GUI-console.
- Flexibility in managing IVM LPARs
- Ability to manage multiple servers at one time
- Complete log mechinism makes it tracing the operation history convenient
- The design's open architecture will enable improvements and new functionality based on user feedback.
How does it work?
Dynamic Logical PARtition Command Line Tool for Integrated Virtualization Manager uses a configuration file for specifying the parameters. It supports UNIX, Linux, Cygwin, and Windows platforms which support bash shell. Please refer to readme.txt in the download package.
